I am writing this post to make you all aware of the possible bad outcomes when you go to a clinic abroad.
Almost 2 weeks ago someone walked in to the clinic. Had a hair transplant in a clinic in Turkey ( i will not give the name)
The transplant was badly done. Wrong angled hairline ( too small angled, usually used as female hairline) and excessive donor usage. To fix the hairline and fill in "viker", they have harvested 6000 grafts they told him.
Donor area was left very bad. Infected.. They also harvested from his beard and his chest - they said they needed more grafts to fill the area and even charged him 500euros more for the extra harvesting.
I had to start him on treatment and even open up the clinic on a sunday to clean his infected areas..
This was a cheap transplant. He said he paid around 20000kr. Hopefully the infection, over harvesting and a bad result will be all what he gets. He will also have himself checked for hepatitis types and some other viruses after some months.
My guess is he was used for training. Someone paid the clinic for X amount of patients to train on. And he was one of them.
I know a lot of people are considering having a hair transplant in Turkey or in other countries, but please check the clinic you are going to. Also please ask to see the hair transplant teams licenses. They are obligated to show it to you when you ask. In serious places, they will come with their professional ids visible on their clothing.
Prices in Norway can be high for some of you and looking for alternatives is just fine. When you are doing it, please ask them questions about the team and not just for the results of hair transplants.
